A young man finds his way to freedom after helping commandeer a slave ship in the Caribbean, as Kelvin Christopher James‘ book “Web of Freedom” opens. Prince M’nalo Fanta Bembo winds up on a lush island, where it appears he has found freedom. But then native forest people capture him because to them, though improbably a savage, he is a manifestation of a sacred creature.
M’nalo lives among the Forest folk, learns their ways, earns their trust, and is content among these nomadic people — until his African essential persona asserts itself, powerfully affecting his attitude. Just as suddenly, he is gone again. at sea on a raft seeking an African tribe of people like himself.
There is much more that happens – not least of which, M’nalo falls in love.
