Jennifer Wheatley-Wolf was born in 1958 and raised in Annapolis, Maryland; graduated from VCU with a degree in Painting and Printmaking in 1983.
She worked in some of the local restaurants in Annapolis during the '80's. and by 1990 had started to focus on her artistic abilities by selling her watercolor paintings in galleries in Annapolis and Baltimore. In the mid 90's she became a certified picture framer and had her own frame shop/art gallery in downtown Annapolis.
She taught herself to sew and began creating Art Quilts. Through a process of machine and free-style embroidery, applique, beading and whatever means necessary, she essentially paints pictures with cloth and thread.
As a challenge to herself Jennifer started entering her quilts into national contests and right away they began to get noticed. Several of them have earned prizes and many have traveled around the country being shown to hundreds of quilting enthusiasts. One of her favorite quilts 'Approaching Winter,' took 1st place in the embellished category of the $100,000 Quilting Contest. It was also selected as one of the quilts in the book 500 Art Quilts by Lark Crafts available on Amazon. It has also been featured in several quilting magazines.
She continues to create elaborate wall hangings, many of which take over a year to complete. You can see & purchase her quilts and machine embroidery online at http://www.ArtGiftsEtc.com
