Amanda Holmes was born in Hampton, Middlesex, and moved to the US in her teens. She was educated at Emerson College and received her MFA from George Mason University. She has written and edited art listings for The New Yorker, evaluated scripts for NBC, and taught writing at Emerson College, Lenguas Vivas in Buenos Aires, at The American University of Rome and Northern Virginia Community College. Her stories have appeared in Ploughshares, Moxie, The Christian Science Monitor, Rattapallax, Ether Books app and elsewhere. With her US Foreign Service husband and their three children she has lived in Venezuela, Argentina, Russia, Belgium and Italy and now resides in Falls Church, Virginia. I Know Where I Am When I’m Falling is her first novel.
